Sets of 6 "Furber Fruits" wipe clean Table Mats or Place Mats and Coasters. Each decorated with a different colourful fruits print and backed with cork.
Twelve Months of Fruits was published in 1732 by Robert Furber, an English nurseryman who two years previously commisioned a similar and very successful series, Twelve months of Flowers. Furber selected 364 varieties of fruits, grouped them according to the month his London patrons could expect them to ripen in a garden or greenhouse, and identified each one with it’s botanical name so that the proper seed or plant could be purchased. This design is interpreted from a set of 18th-century prints in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collection.
