Sets of "Kikka" wipe clean Table Mats or Place Mats, Large Place Mats and Coasters. Each decorated with a different Japanese floral print and backed with cork.
Kikka Meiji-sen, or Catalog of Select Chrysanthemums, is a very rare nursery catalogue published in Tokyo in 1891. It featured 25 full-page colour woodcuts of kiku (crysanthemum) varieties that were developed by Imai and Seibi Mizumoto. A superb example of a specialty trade publication geared to both Japanese and Western consumers, the flowers were captioned in Japanese and Romanized script. Both the printing quality and colour of the images were extraordinary and the paper was laden with tiny flecks of gold leaf that further enhanced them.
